Getting back into the swing of things

I knew that after the marathon I would take at least a week off from running, and at least a month off from running with any kind of plan. I would run when I could, and however long felt comfortable. No log, no paces to hit. I ended up taking a month and a half off, with a few runs sprinkled in. Traveling, moving, unpacking, and visiting family took priority and I was 100% okay with that.

July 15 marked me first day back to scheduled running, my coach and I worked out a plan to get me acclimated to altitude before I start throwing in harder efforts. So this first week back was all about easy runs, figuring out some routes I can run, and letting my lungs figure out what the heck is happening.

I logged 17 miles over 4 runs, saw just as many beautiful sunrises and felt like my lungs improved just a bit. I found a solid 4 mile loop and a long gravel road that goes forever, perfect for all the long runs I’ll have!
